With a clubby groove and a greasy bass line, Reshaped will make you obsessionally tap your feet and bounce your head in a sustained tempo. Despite the hanging detuned piano sample from the intro, it won’t take long for the acoustic piano of Dorian Dumont to emerge from the darkness and come up with weird melodies that Aphex Twin could have come up with. The song progressively builds up on a steady beat that keeps the train running. Slowly, it shifts from darkness to light when soothing synths make their way to the surface, eventually leading it all to an epic ending: like a deep breath of fresh air after an intense dive in the ocean. A perfect cliffhanger to give a taste of what will come next!

about

Adopting a clear « in-your-face » energy, From the ashes brings VAAGUE to a more beat-oriented and danceable territory. This EP takes you on a journey to the lands of fierce drum grooves, trippy synths, weird samples, greasy bass notes and poetic landscapes.
It also marks the first collaborative work with other artists: Brussels’ finest producer Le Motel, French pianist Dorian Dumont (APHEXions, Echt!) and trumpet virtuoso Jean-Paul Estiévenart.
From the ashes takes on various shapes: sometimes hip-hoppy, sometimes electro/UK, sometimes tribal but always with a raging groove underneath that will come up your spine and make you want to swing your head in tempo!
